The Life of the Round
The Life of the Round course is comprised of 4 seminars recordings - over 10 hours of content - available in a single bundle as a complete teaching. The recordings include audio-visual presentations, closed captioning, Q&A, reflection/practice exercises and a reading list for further study.
1. The View from the Round
This seminar explores the worldview of the round - the Daoist concept of return, reversion, and self-renewal (自然), as expressed in astrological principles. We explore how this view re-integrates humanity in the ways of nature and an earthbound belonging, providing a way for spiritual stability in times of polycrises.
2. Spiraling the Elements
This seminar examines the nature of movement of the Heavenly Stems (5 elements). We learn ways to “spiral” the elements, creating ease of change psychologically and emotionally. These include somatic exercises for each Stem to integrate them with our body and gazing meditations to develop our spiritual eye.
3. Dance the Animals
This seminar examines the nature of movement of the Earthly Branches (12 zodiac animals). We view the animals as a whirlwind, a samsaric wheel, and other understandings of the Round. To “dance” the animals, we learn a mudra, meditation and Sankalpa (intention/vow) for each sign.
4. Year of the Yin Water Rabbit
In the final seminar of this series, we explore the astrological influence of the 2023 lunisolar year, the Yin Water Rabbit. We discuss its specific qi, fate, powers and vulnerabilities, and how this is applied to individuals as well as the collective.
As an intermediate level class, taking my intro course prior to this one is highly recommended. Otherwise, a background in Daoism, yin yang philosophy, five element and/or chinese medicine theory will greatly support your learning journey.
